Nonprofit Housing Program
More than 19 million households spend over 30% of their monthly income on rent, and, as an aftermath, are not able to build a safety net. In 2025, Better Families Community Care's Nonprofit Housing Program is gearing up to lease an affordable rental unit where a household will spend no more than 30% of their gross monthly income on rent and utilities. In addition to affordable housing, the program has built in features that foster self-sufficiency including mentoring support and scholarships to champion the pursuit of advancement in education and career.

The agency acquired its first housing unit in 2023, in Macomb, IL, and is methodically working to complete renovations to graciously lease and support a resilient household.
With the support of generous partners, Better Families Community Care is continuously enhancing conditions at the house so that a resilient family can benefit from everything the program has to offer.
